Free Floating: Everything You Need to Know About It

It’s a new day and you bet we’re bringing another piece of good news to you!

Starting from today, you can drop a GoCar off at ANY FREE FLOATING locations and choose to drive by the minute with our Free Floating service. Many thanks to the nice folks at Smart Selangor Parking and Flexi Parking, we are also able to bring this service to even more locations and residents. Inspired by the open ticket concept, you can just drive first and decide when to return later. Talk about flexibility.

If you’d like to try out this new service of ours, please don’t forget to check if your GoCar app has been updated to the latest version. 🙂

Our Rates

On top of getting charged by the minute, you will also be charged with a processing fee of RM0.99. And no worries here, the processing fee will only be collected once for each drive. The rate is also inclusive of Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) Lite Package. However, if someone other than the designated driver drives and damages the car, the CDW isn’t valid.

Also, to keep our prices more affordable, we’ve introduced a daily safety cap of RM129 (Proton Saga & Perodua Axia), RM149 (Perodua Bezza and Nissan Almera) and RM169 (Renault Captur, Toyota Vios, Honda City) for usage above 10 hours/day!

So let’s say you’re driving a Perodua Axia or Saga for 24 hours and 15 minutes, this is how you’ll be charged:

RM0.99 + RM129 + (RM0.17/min x 15mins) = RM132.54

You can check out our car types and per-minute rate in the table below.

Car TypeRate*
Perodua Axia   RM0.17/minute or 17 points/minute
Proton Saga   RM0.17/minute or 17 points/minute

Return the Car to (Almost) Any Location

All you need to make sure is the location that you’ve chosen is one of the drop-off points we’ve allocated for Free Floating cars. Thanks to Smart Selangor Parking and Flexi Parking, you can also choose the Street Parking option if you’re planning to drop-off the car at most street parking locations in Selangor covering all the councils in Selangor excluding Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor.

With the latest implementation from MBSJ, 6 parking areas in Subang & Puchong is now having a 2 hours parking limit.

Please do avoid parking your GoCar here at “Zon Parkir 2 Jam” as the GoCar will be towed and all charges will be charged back to you.

Remember to reserve your drop-off point because otherwise the system will not allow you to end your trip. This will also help to avoid any parking conflicts with another member who has taken a Free Floating car.

  2. Saya nak tanya, jadi kita boleh pilih berapa minit kita nak drive kereta dan boleh pilih nak letak dekat mana ke?

    1. Yes, you can drive by the minute and choose from any of our pre-determined spots to drop off the GoCar. Unlike our usual services, you’re not required to set how many minutes you want to drive when you take a Free Floating car, but you can drive first and decide when to return later.

If you have any questions, you can always reach out to our customer representatives team at hello@gocar.my or 1-300-30-2633. 😉

  3. My account had been frozen and I had been requested for help. There is no response from your side. Give up with your services.

For more assistance, you can always reach out to our Customer Experience team at 1-300-30-2633.

  5. As a new user, am I able to use the free floating option? If not are there any other similar services for users who do not have 5000 points in their Gopocket

    1. Seems like you’ve got a few Qs for us, Chuks. And there’s nothing like good questions to kickstart our day.

      1. New user, kinda new user, not-that-new new user, experienced users…our Free Floating service is open to everyone. Sounds like you’re new, so welcome to the fam. 🙂

      2. If you’d like to use a Free Floating car, ‘fraid you’ll need to have 5,000 points in your GoPocket. But no worries, that can be easily solved by purchasing those points on our app.

      3. OR as an alternative, you can opt for our Round Trip service. You don’t need points to start booking, just sayin’. 😉 And when you book our cars, you’ll be rewarded with GoPocket points too, which can be used to book a GoCar!
